Cutting Garden Info
How do I cut flowers?
1
All flowers must be cut using sharp snips. Cut the stem above a set of double leaves (this will promote reblooming) at a maximum of 18 inches (gladiolus and sunflowers may be picked at any length as they bloom only one time per season).
Place stems in water immediately to get the longest vase life out of each flower.
How many flowers can I pick?
2
The mason jar that we provide (2 and 3/8 inch regular mouth) is the measuring stick for your purchase and you should fill it nice and full! All stems must be IN the mason jar upon completion of picking.
Can I do a photoshoot in the cutting garden?
3
Professional photographers who would like to do shoots in the cutting garden may do so by emailing a requested date/time to ferjulianfarm@gmail.com. The location fee is $50/hour (weekdays) $75/hour (weekends). We do not offer after hours photo shoots. Please note that others will be picking in the field during your shoot.
We aren’t able to take event orders for the cutting garden, but you are welcome to come and pick what’s available for your event either by the mason jar or by the basket.

Flower Garden Membership
If you love to pick flowers, the flower garden membership gives you the opportunity to pick once a week from July 5 - October 4 (or, on the date of the first hard frost). We are passionate about the flower garden and continue trialing new varieties each year in addition to our favorites from previous years. In 2026, we will have 200+ plant varieties growing including 20 types of lisianthus, 60 varieties of dahlias, and other specialty flowers such as gladiolas, double lilies, calla lilies, and panicle hydrangeas. Sunflowers are available to pick from mid July through early October.
Memberships go on sale April 15, 2026. To sign up, you will need the member’s name, mailing address, and email address. Please note that memberships can only be used by the member (similar to a lift ticket) and are not permitted to be passed around from week to week.
When it’s time to pick, check in at the flower pavilion, borrow snips (or bring your own). We’ll share any special flower instructions—like what’s newly in bloom or what might have stem limits—and then be on your way! Remember to bring the provided mason jar each week.
