TULIPS

Estimated dates of Tulip Picking in 2024: April 19 - May 5

Tulip Pricing:
$20 / dozen
$2 / stem (for increments outside of dozens)
*A minimum of one dozen tulips must be picked per reservation.

A total of 300,000 tulips will bloom on our hillside in the last two weeks of April through the first week of May. The exact dates of picking will vary depending on Spring weather. For tulips, cloudy and cool weather is preferable as it extends their bloom season.

Reservations are required to pick tulips. One reservation includes as many people as will safely fit in one car and one dozen tulips must be picked per reservation. Parking is limited on our farm and reservations ensure that everyone has a parking spot and that the field is not crowded.

*To keep tulip picking affordable, pricing is simple: you pay for what you pick with a minimum of one dozen tulips per reservation. Because we don’t sell prepaid tickets, we do not allow viewing or touring of the field without picking tulips.

HOW TO PICK TULIPS
We will provide a basket/bucket for you upon arrival and set you free to pick as many tulips as you’d like! When you find a tulip that you want, reach down as close to the soil level as possible, grasp the stem and pull straight up. The bulb may or may not come out of the ground. If it does, we will cut it off at the wrapping station. We do not allow you to take bulbs home.

When you’ve finished picking, head to the red farm stand where our team will count, package, and collect payment (cash or credit).

CAN CHILDREN PICK TULIPS?
Absolutely! Please guide your child to pick the whole stem by pulling from soil level and not just the tulip head.

TULIP CARE TIPS
When you get home, give the stems of your tulips a fresh cut and place them directly into a clean vessel with clean water. Change the water every other day.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Tulips blooming in mass are a stunning sight and 20,000 tulips have been planted for the sole purpose of show! The show garden is roped off at the very front of the field. You’re welcome to photograph and enjoy these open blooms with the purchase of your tulips.

If you’re a photographer interested in hosting photo shoots in our tulip field, please read the below guidelines.

WHO NEEDS A RESERVATION?
Photographers and subjects must reserve a tulip picking time slot when they become available. One reservation is needed per car. Time slots are 30 minutes in duration. Because we are limited in parking, it’s very important that you keep to the allotted time. Uncooperative photographers will not be welcomed back.

WHEN WILL RESERVATIONS OPEN?
We open the field as soon as the tulips come into bloom, around April 17. Because the bloom date varies as well as the field bloom conditions, we only open reservations 3 – 5 days in advance to ensure that visitors have the best experience possible. We do not open the field for photographers after hours.

WHAT IS THE COST?
Photographers: $50 per 30 minute time slot (pay upon arrival; we will give you a pass to wear).
Clients: pick one dozen tulips, regular picking rates apply.

WHERE CAN I PHOTOGRAPH?
The tulip field! We are a true working farm that’s also residential, for safety and to respect our family, please remain within tulip field bounds.

WHAT CAN I BRING FOR EQUIPMENT?
Camera, bag, and tripods, but we do not allow reflectors, light stands, or props.

And lastly, our field is primarily for picking. Please be courteous to those who are enjoying the field while you navigate your shoot.
